Archinto, Antonio Stradivari, 1696

Made in 2025 – 16 1/4″ Viola

This viola offers a warm and expressive tone, with a rich core and a clear, focused response. The lower register speaks with depth and stability, while the middle register remains particularly balanced and resonant. In the upper register, the sound retains clarity and ease, allowing for a wide range of colours and nuanced phrasing. The instrument responds quickly under the bow and maintains a strong sense of evenness throughout, providing both comfort and flexibility for the player. Its overall character combines warmth with definition, making it well suited to both solo and ensemble playing.

Medici, Antonio Stradivari, 1716

Made 2025, Violin

“Inspired by Stradivari’s celebrated Medici model, this 2025 violin by Ludivine Brouillet exemplifies the depth and refinement of contemporary French lutherie. The instrument has been oil-varnished with great care, featuring a luminous golden ground beneath a rich red-brown varnish that produces a deeply reflective surface and visual warmth.
Brouillet’s work is distinguished by both precision and expressive craftsmanship—qualities that have made her instruments increasingly valued among professional musicians. This violin reflects those hallmarks beautifully, combining bold individuality with tonal sophistication.
The two-piece back is carved from attractively flamed maple of medium curl, descending gently from the centre joint. The ribs show a subtler figure, while the scroll and pegbox are cut from plain maple. The front is made from two pieces of finely grained spruce, narrower at the centre and broadening towards the flanks. The varnish—a warm, dark red-brown laid over a golden ground—adds depth and brilliance, highlighting the graceful arching and clean edgework.
Tonally, the violin offers a compelling character: dark and resonant on the lower strings, yet clear and singing in the upper register. Its balance, responsiveness, and comfort make it equally suited to orchestral, chamber, and solo performance.
A fine example of Brouillet’s mature style, this Stradivari Medici model unites aesthetic elegance with a powerful, modern voice—an instrument certain to develop beautifully in the hands of an accomplished player.”
